DID YOU KNOW THAT FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS CAN GET UP TO A $7,500 TAX CREDIT? This is part of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008!
The amount of the credit will be 10% of the cost of the home, not to exceed $7,500. Eligible properties include any single-family residence (including condos,co-ops) that will be used as a principal residence. There is an income limit for individuals with adjusted gross income of no more than $75,000 ($150,000 on a joint return). Phases out above those caps ($95,000 and $170,000, respectively). This program is for first-time homebuyers, or purchasers that have not owned a principal residence in 3 years previous to purchase. The effective date for this credit begins April 9, 2008 and expires July 1, 2009.
